SLAC Research Library Addis Fund Fellow Opportunity.
The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory invites applications from librarians for the first competition of the Addis Fellowship Program. The program will place 1 recent Ph.D. or MLIS from an ALA accredited program into a 5.5 month full-time position at the SLAC Research Library. This assignment will provide an opportunity for a new or early career librarian to gain exposure to an academic library environment and to exercise leadership in the development and implementation of policies and practices relating some aspect of the SLAC Research Library's management and services.
Reporting to the Manager, Archives and Research Library, this year's incumbent will help define, enhance and modify the Research Library web site (http://www-group.slac.stanford.edu/library/) to reflect recent changes in staffing and services; promote ease of maintenance and of use; provide clear and accurate information on services; and ensure cross- platform and cross-browser compatibility and visual consistency of the site components.
Deliverables for this year's assignment will be:
Re-vamped /re-written web site content and code for the Research Library (graphics and style to be completed later, in conformance with SLAC-wide web re-branding project)
Documentation for Research Library staff on the maintaining and updating of the Research Library website.
Note: Applicants must have US work authorization.
This is a 5.5 month non-benefits eligible, hourly position.
Qualifications: Required:
? Recent graduate with Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution of higher education or Ph.D. in Library Science.
? At least 2 years’ experience working with standard web technologies that include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and XML to develop and integrate web applications.
? Knowledge of content, format and search strategies of bibliographic databases and electronic information resources; XML, HTML, Drupal, relational database structures, data taxonomies, digital repositories, emerging web standards and technologies including Open URL and link resolution software.
? Formal coursework in, or experience with, user information‐seeking behaviors in an academic environment.
? Demonstrated commitment to user‐centered library service.
Desired Skills:
? BA/BS in a scientific discipline or computer science preferred.
? Aspiration in library administration, management, and public service.
? Successful in both academic and extra-academic experiences.
