Re: Alternatives for usage statistic management

Hi,
I work at Oregon Health and Science University. We have been using
the e-stats service from HARRASSOWITZ for the last several years. We
are very happy with the service they provide. Currently, they deliver
our statistics twice a year. We supply a list of the e-journal,
e-book, and database vendors who provide usage statistics and their
corresponding account information. They will let us know if they
encounter any problems in accessing our usage data, which is unusual.
We receive COUNTER and non-COUNTER compliant statistics through this
service. They provide us with spreadsheets organized by the type of
product and if they are COUNTER or not.
We are much happier with this e-stats service than a previous product
we used. It is timely, affordable, communication is great, and
coverage is more extensive. One thing that immediately sold me on
this service is that our previous statistics provider wouldn't even
consider gathering non-COUNTER compliant statistics. HARRASSOWITZ
explained the limitations of this data but was more than happy to
collect anything we need. I would rather get my hands on the data than
have a super slick interface that only covers a portion of our usage.
The great thing is that HARRASSOWITZ is involved in every aspect of
our e-resources management. They handle our e-journals from license
negotiation, orders, troubleshooting to gathering stats. As they also
have access to our list of vendors for databases and e-books, they
also have more complete knowledge of the type of content we provide
our users and the extent of our collections.
Please feel free to contact me off-list with any questions,
Emily

If you are NOT using an ILS- or ERM-integrated usage statistic
management tool (e.g., Serials Solutions COUNTER), what are you using
to manage your e-resource usage statistics? Please reply off-list.
Thanks!
