Cardiovascular Care

***Apologies for cross-posting***

SAGE wishes to draw your attention to the new launch journal - European
Heart Journal: Acute Cardiovascular Care (print ISSN 2048-8726, online
ISSN 2048-8734) - which it is publishing on behalf of the European
Society of Cardiology (ESC) from 2012. Please note that whilst the new
journal is part of the ESC Journal Family, the European Heart Journal
itself (print ISSN 0195-668x, online ISSN 1522-9645) will still be
published by Oxford University Press and is not transferring to SAGE.

Can you please ensure your records correctly reflect this, as we believe
there has been confusion surrounding who will be publishing the European
Heart Journal (print ISSN 0195-668x, online ISSN 1522-9645) for 2012.

EXPANDING UPSO—UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA PRESS PARTNERS WITH OXFORD
UNIVERSITY PRESS TO MAKE SCHOLARLY MONOGRAPHS AVAILABLE VIA NEWLY
LAUNCHED PLATFORM

Berkeley, CA and New York, NY — University of California Press is
pleased to announce it will partner with Oxford University Press to
launch California Scholarship Online/CALSO on the University Press
Scholarship Online (UPSO) platform, taking advantage of a fully enabled
XML ebook hosting environment with cutting edge search and discovery
functionality. California Scholarship Online will launch in March 2012
with 450+ titles across four major subject areas–History, Classics,
Biology, and Sociology.

“We know it is critical for libraries to broaden patron access to online
scholarly books. Bringing our digital monographs to the scholarly
community–with tools to facilitate ease of use and discovery—is a major
way in which University of California Press can meet that need. We are
delighted to partner with Oxford in the UPSO initiative, building on
their extensive experience in the scholarly digital environment,” said
Alison Mudditt, Director of University of California Press.

Responding to increased demand for online scholarly content, UPSO
streamlines the research process by making disparately published
monographs easily accessible, highly discoverable and fully
cross-searchable via one online platform. Research that previously would
have required users to jump between a variety of books, and disconnected
websites can now be concentrated through a single search engine.

California Scholarship Online provides an online home for University of
California Press monographs and provides users a suite of highly
intuitive tools to facilitate deep search across all the content in the
UPSO program. As such, UPSO will be the premier online research tool—for
scholars, teachers, graduate and undergraduate students—and an essential
resource for all academic libraries.

Benefits of UPSO and California Scholarship Online for scholars and
libraries include:

Access to over 450 UC Press titles across four major subject
areas—History, Classics, Sociology, and Biology—beginning in March 2012,
with titles in Religion and Anthropology coming in May 2012

7,000+ titles available across 22 subject areas, including many new
titles, with additional titles added regularly

The reassurance of the highest quality scholarly content

The ability for scholars to streamline research through a single online
platform

Easy integration into existing library systems

Full customer support services as well as flexibility and choice in
purchasing models

Enhanced search functionality, including:

Fully cross-referenced and cross-searchable content, with clickable
citations from bibliographies and footnotes, and OpenURL and DOI-linking
support

All content available in XML, which provides deep tagging and better
search results. Content can also be saved to downloaded PDFs for portability

Abstracts and keywords at both the book and chapter level for each title

“I've long been a fan of the University of California Press and its
publishing program, going back to my days as a college student. UCP
surely ranks by any estimation in the top tier of university presses and
contributes a particular flair and craftsmanship to the academic
publishing landscape. It is a privilege to be working closely with UCP
on this exciting initiative and I'm delighted to be joining forces with
such a dynamic press to expand the reach of its offerings, across the US
and around the globe," said Niko Pfund, President and Academic Publisher
for Oxford University Press, Inc. (OUP USA).

University of California Press
