ULTIMATE DEBATE: Open Source Software - Free Beer or Free Puppy?
Program at the ALA Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.
Monday, June 28th, 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm, Washington Convention Center Room 146B.
The Ultimate Debate returns for the fifth straight year with a heated discussion of the merits of open source software vs. proprietary products. The three fiery speakers are Marshall Breeding from Vanderbilt University, Karen Schneider from Holy Names University, and Stephen Abram from Gale Cengage. Moderator Roy Tennant will do his best to keep the peace. No free beer or free puppies will be provided.
The Ultimate Debate is presented by the Internet Resources and Services Interest Group (IRSIG).
The IRSIG business meeting at ALA will be Sunday, June 27th, from 10:30 am to noon in the Hilton, Room Columbia 10.
After our short business meeting, we will be discussing open source communication tools, as a prelude to the Ultimate Debate about Open Source Software.
All are welcome to attend. Please consider bringing ongoing projects to share with the group.
We hope to see you in DC!
