business? While you may not initially see this as an obvious career path
for you, we are looking for someone with talent in managing library
operations and who would like to focus his or her career path in an
administrative direction.

North Carolina State University Libraries is seeking a Business
Librarian, to work within the Libraries’ Office of Finance and
Business, to bring expertise in library operations and budgets, helping
to insure the integration of budget management with the planning and
evaluation of library services. She or he develops internal procedures
and processes to provide a service-oriented department that assists the
Libraries in meeting its strategic goals. The Business Librarian
researches and analyzes business procedures, and works collaboratively
with colleagues in other library departments to assess strengths and
weaknesses of various services, evaluate operating costs, determine
priorities, and establish policies for management of resources. The
incumbent analyzes proposals, determines feasibility, and provides
technical analysis and advice in developing reports to support
decision-making. She or he serves as financial liaison with programs
under the Libraries’ fiscal responsibility (e.g. NC LIVE,
Acquisitions, Collection Management, and Access & Delivery Services),
providing financial reports and process oversight.
