Dowling College is seeking to fill a Full-Time, Tenure-Track, Faculty
Librarian to begin September 1, 2010. The candidate will be specifically
responsible for coordination and maintenance of the serials collection
and for overseeing the Library’s operations as a government depository.
The successful candidate should be familiar with serials publishing,
distribution and access, and be knowledgeable of trends in both print
and electronic publications. Familiarity with operations of the Federal
Depository Library Program, including expertise in item selection and
electronic access to government information, is also required.
The candidate will also be responsible for providing traditional and
electronic reference service and information instruction. Dedication to
outstanding customer service is essential. Additional skills include
experience with online databases, Internet searching and strong
analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
The candidate will share in the team activities of the library and must
be able to demonstrate the leadership and interpersonal skills necessary
to work cooperatively and collegially with the various members of the
College community.
MLS from an ALA accredited institution required. Academic library
