While the course focuses on printed serials, the instructions are applicable to serials in any format. This workshop includes no specific instructions for electronic serials. McDanold (University of Pennsylvania Libraries) Jian Wang (Portland State University) Description: This course is based on chapter 9, "Electronic resources," and chapter 12, "Continuing resources," of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR), 2nd edition, 2002 Revision. The course focuses on cataloging electronic integrating resources with only incidental information on cataloging loose-leaf integrating resources. The 2010 version has changes that reflect the implementation of code "i," removal of references to RLG, and some minor changes in examples and in the text. Attendees will learn to use the MARC 21 Format for Holdings Data (MFHD) and ANSI/NISO Z39.71 to create standards-compliant holdings records and publication patterns data. Attendees will be able to distinguish options for entering holdings data (i.e., formatted, textual, and publication patterns). The instructions and exercises are system-neutral, and the course includes time for discussion of local system implementation.
