Journal Title Issues Griffin, Glenda 05 Aug 2009 20:29 UTC

Greetings-
The issue I need to bring up has surely been dealt with before on this list, but I would sincerely appreciate some feedback. I am sure we are all aware that content providers for e-journals often lump a journal title and all the title changes for that journal under one heading (title) rather than providing access to each version of the title along with the corresponding dates of coverage. This can become (IS) a nightmare for catalogers. We provide a link in our catalog for each e-journal record to our alphabetical A-Z journal title list.

When bringing in a batch of records for a particular journal package, how do other catalogers deal with this issue? Do you go to the trouble to bring in a record for each title change and link it back to the one heading?
