BACKSERV does still exist and is going strong.  There are also the
ALCTSDEU and BACKMED listservs.  These are also potential ways to get rid
of old bound volumes by giving them to another library that is missing a
volume.  I have only requested really old stuff one time, but regularly
request new issues when we don't receive them from the publisher or they
"grow legs."  I am so happy to be on those listservs.  Without them, we
may be binding quite a few incomplete volumes.
