Re: Wiley EAL license John Lucas 01 Jun 2009 20:23 UTC

Mina and all.

For right now I would not worry about Cancer. Since it is by the American Cancer Society, I would hope that the Society would dictate archives access. There is a page on Wile for Open Access Backfiles.

"Certain Wiley-Blackwell journals available on Wiley InterScience have Open Access backfiles, where all content prior to a given date is made free online to all. "

http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/aboutus/open_access_options.html#OpenAccess_Backfiles

Right now we have a few titles that are print and online access based on requests for e-access, however our former director was worried about archives so we kept the print. We have not signed any Enhanced Access License. I was going to see if we could convert some of those P+E titles to E only and save a little. Now, I am not so sure. I will have to look again at the Basic License.

By some, we might be considered a multi site and when Blackwell was separate, on some of our titles, we were confused with the Univ. of MS in Oxford. We are separate institutions as our funding comes from the state legislature, not the university in Oxford.

We may have to cancel our online as other suggest they might, however when I got back today after spending a week with my mother helping to put in the garden, another faculty member asked that we have e-access to Annals of Neurology.

With Best Regards

Linda,

thanks for standing up to them. I know it's hard, it's really painful, but someone has to start. I don't have any online journals from Wiley except Cancer and, the Blackwell titles, which of course are no longer any good because of Wiley's lack of foresight in honoring their agreement to keep Blackwell titles as is. If they pull that on me with Cancer, then I will not hesitate to cancel.

I do have a question: what does EAL stand for?

God bless

Mina
