PTPL SCHOLARSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT 2009

Potomac Technical Processing Librarians (PTPL) announces the availability
of two $1,000 scholarships for future librarians interested in technical
services. Students living or working in the PTPL membership region (DC,
Maryland, Virginia) and who are currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited
program, including distance education programs, are invited to apply.
Criteria Requirements for the award:
1. The applicant must be a full or part-time student in Library and/or
Information Science at the Master’s level and have completed at least one
three-hour credit course.
2. The applicant must demonstrate an interest in technical services
through employment, course of study, or research interests.
To apply, please submit the following materialsand note that all
submissions must be in MS Word:
1. PTPL scholarship application and two written references (The application
form can be found at: 2009 PTPLscholarshipApplication.doc)
2. A current resume
3. A one-page, double spaced statement of the applicant’s interest in
library technical services
DEADLINE TO APPLY IS May 29, 2009
The scholarships will be awarded by August 28, 2009, and publicly announced
at the annual PTPL meeting in October. The recipients will receive a free
one-year membership in PTPL and have registration fees for the annual
conference waived.
