Please excuse duplicate postings. We are posting to several listservs.
Thank you.

Dear Colleagues:

The Membership Committee of the College Libraries Section (CLS) encourages
you to renew your affiliation with this remarkable section when you renew
your ALA membership. Not already a member of CLS? Simply select CLS as one
of two sections that are included with your membership fee as an ACRL
member. Below you will find information on the benefits of renewing/joining,
as well as other activities of the ACRL's College Libraries Section.

CLS Committees

CLS has numerous committees that you may participate in: Clip Notes,
Communications, Conference Program Planning, Continuing Education, Executive
Committee, Leadership, Liaison to ACRL Committees, Membership, Nominating
Committee, Research for College Librarianship, and Standards. Please see
this link for Committee Chair and Roster information about these committees:
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/acrl/about/sections/cls/committeeinfo/comm
ittees.cfm

Participating in CLS committees is easy; just fill out a volunteer form at:
http://www.ala.org/ala/mgrps/divs/acrl/about/sections/cls/committeeinfo/comm
itteevol.cfm

It takes no more than five minutes to fill out.

CLS Services to Members

Examples of the one-of-a-kind services that CLS provides include: a College
Library Director Mentor Program; the college web site of the month,
featuring innovative academic library web sites; and the "Your Research
Coach" Program, which assists librarians by offering them any support,
advice and guidance they may need to complete their research and scholarly
projects.

CLS Conference Programs

CLS also sponsors programs at the ALA Annual Conference, and discussion
groups about hot topics in Academic Librarianship at ALA Midwinter. At the
Annual ALA Conference last June in Anaheim, California, CLS Sponsored a
joint program with the DLS (Distance Learning Section) and CJCLS (Community
and Junior College Libraries Section) entitled: "Learning Virtually: Online
Professional Development for Library Workers with Tight Budgets and Full
Schedules". You can watch a webcast of this program at
http://www.learningtimes.net/ala2008

This is your chance to meet and work with colleagues from all over who share
the goal of encouraging the development of library services in baccalaureate
programs, as the CLS mission statement makes clear.

For more information, please visit the CLS website at:

Sincerely,

The Membership Committee
