Eastern Kentucky University seeks a creative, innovative and service-oriented librarian for the position of Acquisitions Librarian Team Leader. Reporting to the Coordinator of Collection Services, the Acquisitions Librarian Team Leader will supervise support staff in the daily operations relating to ordering, receiving and processing a wide variety of material; work with library vendors and other content providers; serve on the Collection Development Advisory Team; participate in faculty outreach through the library's liaison program; and provide ongoing leadership for collection development. The librarian will be appointed at the rank of Assistant University Librarian or Associate University Librarian, depending on qualifications.
EKU Librarians have faculty status and 12-month contracts. Salaries are competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include tuition waivers, family health care plans, choice of retirement plans, life insurance, 20 days vacation plus sick time, and approximately 15 paid university holidays.
Required Qualifications: ALA-accredited MLS degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution. Current MLS degree candidates who expect to receive their degree by May 2009 will also be considered.
Desired Qualifications: Experience with an integrated library system, Voyager preferred, especially related to acquisitions and/or cataloging functions; supervisory experience of full-time employees and/or student assistants; familiarity with current best practices and trends in library acquisitions operations and management; familiarity with cataloging principles and procedures; excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; potential to excel in a dynamic academic library environment, displaying leadership, flexibility, initiative, creative energy, and resourcefulness.
