ELECTRONIC RESOURCES/SERIALS LIBRARIAN - UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER

The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Library of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC) invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources/Serials Librarian. We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill this position, which is primarily responsible for providing leadership in the provision and management of electronic resources for the patrons of the Lewis Library. This position reports to the Senior Director for Technical Services.

Located in Fort Worth, Texas, UNTHSC is a growing institution comprising the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Professions, and Physician Assistant Studies Program.  More than 1200 students attend classes on our campus, which is situated in the city's Cultural District just west of downtown Fort Worth. Primary Duties
*	Provides leadership in developing, delivering, maintaining and assessing the Lewis Library*s collection of electronic resources
*	Establishes professional relationships and communications with vendors, publishers, and consortia
*	Collaborates with UNTHSC librarians in the selection and evaluation of new resources, including coordinating trials and pilots
                when appropriate
*	Negotiates licenses for all continuing electronic materials
*	Coordinates the acquisition of electronic resources and serial subscriptions, including monitoring of expenditures and
                preparation of budget reports
*	Implements and assists in managing link resolver and electronic resource management tools, including Serials Solutions
                products
*	Collaborates with the Web Services Librarian, Systems Librarian, Technical  Services Librarian, and others to provide access
                to electronic resources and promote their use
*	Resolves operational problems related to electronic resource access and functionality
*	Designs and implements efficient and effective work flows, documenting them in written procedures
*	Collaborates with Technical Services Librarian to maintain accurate and current records for serial holdings and coverage
                dates, providing updates regularly to DOCLINE, OCLC, and other library services
*	Gathers and compiles usage statistics for all subscription resources, providing reports upon request to inform collection
                development decisions
*	Supervises 3 FTE employees, providing mentoring, training, performance evaluation, and priority-setting
*	Evaluates E-Resources staff development needs and coordinates training opportunities
*	Keeps current with developments in electronic resources and serials management

General Professional Duties
*	Interprets library policies and procedures to facilitate patron service
*	Participates in library strategic planning and goal setting
*	Assists with identifying and developing assessment tools for measuring the quality of library services
*	Represents the library at local, regional, and national meetings
*	Maintains awareness of changes within the field of health science librarianship and general trends in academic health science
                libraries
*	Serves on library, institutional, and faculty committees and teams as appropriate

Qualifications
Required
*	ALA-accredited master*s degree in library or information science
*	Two years professional experience in a similar or related position in a health sciences or academic library
*	Knowledge of standard practices in the evaluation, selection, and acquisition of electronic information resources
*	Knowledge of copyright, Intellectual Property and licensing terms/issues in a networked environment
*	Evidence of excellent organizational, problem solving, written and oral communication skills
*	Ability to work independently and with others in a collegial, service-oriented, rapidly changing environment.
*	One year supervisory experience

Preferred
*	Experience with Innovative Interfaces* Millennium system, Serials Solutions products and other electronic resource
                management tools
*	Significant experience working with vendors of information resources and the publishing industry
*	Supervisory experience in Technical Services of health science or academic libraries
*	Understanding of current practices and developments in scholarly publishing, open access issues, and emerging standards
                and technologies

Salary and Benefits:
The salary is commensurate with experience. UNTHSC librarians hold non-tenure track faculty appointments in the university's Department of Medical Education and receive the standard State of Texas higher education employee benefits package, including fully paid health insurance for the employee.  Librarians may participate in either a state sponsored or optional retirement plan.  Vacation is accrued at 8 hours per month and increases with longevity.  Financial assistance for employees and their dependents taking classes in the University of North Texas system is also available.  Texas has no state income tax and the Fort Worth area offers a low cost of living.
