Hello,

I'm new to the role of Serials Librarian and am new to this listserv so
I apologize if this question/issue has been previously discussed. (I did
check the archives briefly before posting).

I am curious how other Libraries respond to the "single user" pricing
model, where "single user" is defined as ONE person or individual (as
opposed to one user at a time).

Our Nursing Program faculty are requesting online access to journals
such as American Journal of Nursing and Nursing, both published by
Lippincott. Our small community college library budget can barely
justify spending over $200 to subscribe to an online journal that comes
with an institutional site license, and yet this is the cost we are
expected to pay in order to provide ONE PERSON electronic access to each
of these journals. These titles are not available full-text in any of
our subscription databases, so for the time being we will continue to
direct faculty & students to our print subscription copies and will look
for alternative titles that have a more reasonable pricing model for
online access.

I appreciate any and all feedback, on or off list is fine.
