Re: Tracking usage of non-circulating periodicals Nancy Bickford 12 Nov 2008 20:01 UTC

We barcode our bound volumes--for inventory and for in-house usage
statistics. For the current issues that are not barcoded I have created
a dummy item record for each title. It is scanned the number of times
the title is used (if 3 isseus are used, the card is scanned 3 times in
the in-house usage counter). Our patrons are asked not to re-shelve
titles. Of course, this only provides us with an estimate since we all
know that some are used and placed back on the shelves without our
knowledge.
