By other programs, do you mean other *library* programs? There are a
number of movements now toward reconfiguring space to address varying
needs at different time such as: student collaboration space for team
project work; quiet zone work areas for those wanting a quite place to
work; spaces where flexible-use furniture is available and can be moved
around easily; informal instruction areas where furniture and
accessories can be moved around easily and can be configured for
informal library instruction sessions (furniture on casters, moveable
whiteboards, etc.).

Subject: [SERIALST] space reallocation
Our administration has asked us to develop a plan to abandon a floor of
the library for other programs or to develop a rationale for not doing
so. Can anyone point me to research in that area or supply some
personal experience with dealing with such a request?
Many thanks,
Mary
