Hello: on behalf of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, I am passing
along information on an upcoming conference of interest to SERIALIST
members:
Constant Content and Autonomous Authors: The New Role of Publishers in
the Era of Empowered Authors
There are a lot of conferences about scholarly communications, but the
Society for Scholarly Publishing is inviting you to join us at the
Philadelphia Four Seasons Hotel on September 3-5 for something a little
different: Constant Content and Autonomous Authors: The New Role of
Publishers in the Era of Empowered Authors.
Publishing executives thinking about the future of their digital
offerings; editors intrigued with new content forms; managing editors
and publishing directors involved with guiding authors and editors
through the adoption of new tools and ways of generating content will be
joining the discussion.
Speakers from Amazon.com, Outsell, Nature Publishing Group, Seed Media
Group, TECH cocktail, Intrapromote, and The Wall Street Journal Health
Blog will explore how publishers can maintain brand, audience, and
revenue in a world where authors are autonomous.
Our keynote presentations by David Perlmutter, author of Blogwars, and
Scott Karp, author of Publishing 2.0, will discuss how social
information is changing the world and how authors and publishers
specifically will approach this changed landscape.
Guest interviews and proceedings will be produced as podcasts and blogs,
and these authors, including Christopher Kenneally, producer of Beyond
the Book podcast; award-winning Adam Weiss, podcaster and podcast
consultant; Jill O'Neill, information industry professional and serial
blogger, and Kent Anderson, author of The Scholarly Kitchen blog will
share their insights and discuss and show the tools that have empowered
their independence.
Register today. Seats are filling quickly and attendance will be limited
to 80 to create an interactive environment. Learn more about our
speakers at the TMR blog.
We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia!
