Yes, I reported problems in June.  We were having trouble opening PDFs.  They would appear to begin downloading (no error message), but instead of completing the download, the attempt would time out.  Here is the response I received from Jstor 3 weeks after my initial problem report:

"Sorry to have taken so long to get back with you. I took a look in the logs and it looks like your downloads were simply timing out. The only way to circumvent that is to open the Terms and Conditions in a new tab/window, and right click the "Proceed to PDF" button and do a "save as".

I know you were less than thrilled to use this option, but it may be the only way to prevent timing out at this time.

We will continue to work to improve the site and hopefully we will be able to avoid problems like this in the future."

PDFs still take much too long to load and often time out, but we do not get the error message you describe.

We have been experiencing trouble retrieving pdf articles from JSTOR.

We frequently get a page with the message "File is damaged and cannot

be repaired." This has happened with Firefox, and then when we try it

with Internet Explorer it would work. This morning, just the opposite

occurred- someone couldn't access a PDF with IE, but we did with

Firefox.  We reported this to JSTOR last Friday and have not had any

"official" response yet.  Has anyone else been having the same problem?
