Illustrated flora and Illustrated botany
Wolfe, S. J. 25 Jul 2008 15:46 UTC
We have assorted loose issues of Illustrated botany and
Wellman's illustrated botany (1846-1847), edited by John Newman, as well
as two bound volumes with title "The illustrated botany" by John Newman,
which contain at least vol. 1, no. 1 of the loose issues, and then
change to something different for the remainders of the volumes.
If anyone has vol. 1-12 of either Illustrated Botany or
Illustrated Flora, would you please send me a list of plates so that I
can compare them to the bound volumes? I suspect that what happened was
the bound volumes (which do not match each other) contain parts of
Illustrated botany and well as Illustrated flora, which was also edited
by Newman. We only have Vol. 1, no. 1 then jump to no. 5 of Illustrated
Botany, and the change occurs before number 5.
According to our catalogue we have copies of Illustrated Flora
but they have not been located, hence my question for the list.
Please reply offlist.
Cordially,
SJ
