POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Responsibilities: Reporting to the Program Director for Collections, the
Electronic Resources (ER) Coordinator coordinates selection, licensing,
and accessibility of electronic resources. The successful candidate will
be responsible for the general electronic resources budget, management
of electronic resources, user support and training, and the collection
and analysis of usage statistics. The ER Coordinator works closely with
research librarians and the Collection Management Committee to develop
an appropriate electronic resources collection for the UH Libraries. The
ER Coordinator works closely with vendors to set up trials, negotiate
pricing and licensing, and provide ongoing maintenance. The ER
Coordinator will work with one staff direct report on the communication
of information concerning electronic resources such as downtimes,
upgrades, and scheduled administrative changes; communication of
technical issues with any given resource to both the user community and
vendors, and trouble-shooting difficult user access problems.

The UH Libraries have adopted and are implementing a set of strategic

individuals who will be interested in advancing this plan. The Libraries
support the ongoing professional development of librarians and our goal
is to recruit librarians committed to continuous learning. Librarians
hold academic ranks pursuant to the University of Houston Librarians'
Governance document. They are expected to develop a record of service
and professional involvement.

Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited Master's degree; substantial
knowledge of and experience with selection and assessment of electronic
resources. Preferred: Experience with licensing of electronic resources.
Knowledge of electronic resources management systems. Desired: Ability
to work cooperatively within a team-based environment.

Salary: $45,000 to $50,000 expected hiring range, depending on
qualifications. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement
programs including TIAA-CREF; tax-deferred annuity program available;
release time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local
income tax.

Library Information: The UH Libraries are a member of the Association of
Research Libraries, the Greater Western Library Alliance, and the Texas
Digital Library Alliance. The Libraries hold over 2 million volumes.
