FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

========================================================================
=====

15th July 2008, Cambridge, England, UK & New York, USA

Cambridge Journals again hit a high in the recent Thomson Reuters 2007
Journal Citation Reports(r) (JCR). Behavioral and Brain Sciences is at
the
top position of all 1865 journals indexed in the Social Science Citation

Index (SSCI).

Both Behavioral and Brain Sciences and International Organization are
ranked as number 1 in their categories.

Cambridge journals outperform their competitors with an average increase
in
Impact Factor of 13.2% against an average of 3.6% for the journals
within
their subject categories. Cambridge's Humanities and Social Science
journals average an increase of 16% and the Science, Technology and
Medicine journals increased by 11.3% whereas the average increase over
all
categories was only 3.8%.

Over a quarter of Cambridge journals again fall within the top 10 of
their
categories when ranked by Impact Factor. Eleven journals are placed in
the
top 5 in their categories including Microscopy and Microanalysis,
International Psychogeriatrics, and Psychological Medicine in the SCI
categories and in the SSCI, Journal of Economic History, Journal of
Social
Policy and Journal of Navigation.

Cambridge Journals indexed in the JCR for the first time included
Systematics and Biodiversity, published for the Natural History Museum;
Journal of the Institute of Mathematics and Jussieu, published for the
Institute of Mathematics and Jussieu and Bilingualism: Language and
Cognition.

In total, almost two-thirds of Cambridge journals that are indexed in
the
JCR demonstrated an increase in their Impact Factor. The continuing
policy
of development across all quarters of Journals publishing at Cambridge
University Press has once more contributed to this success. Cambridge
Journals Director, Simon Ross, commented; "Across the board our results
continue to move in the right direction. This is a rare moment to pause
and
reflect on our successes and then get straight back to working toward
even
better results for next year."

In the SSCI, the Impact Factor of the British Journal of the History of
Science, published for the British Society for the History of Science
rose
by 22.9%, compared with an average rise of 9.7% for journals in its
category. Journal of Economic History, published on behalf of Economic
History Association, demonstrated a rise of 109%, compared with an
average
rise of 39% for journals in its categories.

In the SCI, three journals in particular saw considerable increases in
their Impact Factors. Quarterly Reviews of Biophysics, the official
journal of the International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics, rose
by
131% compared with a subject-category average of 1.7%. Zygote saw an
increase of 84.5% compared to an average of 1.8% and the Journal of
Systematic Paleontology increased by 73.4% compared to an average drop
of
5.5%.

Dear Serialst,

You may be interested in the following Press Release from Taylor &
Francis
Group. Please accept my apologies for cross-posting:

Oxford, UK, 10th July, 2008 -Taylor & Francis, Routledge, and Psychology

Press have increased the number of titles listed in Thomson Reuter's
2007
Journal Citation Reports by over 10% compared to 2006. Taylor & Francis
Group and sister imprint Informa Healthcare now publish over 625 titles
listed in
Web of Science: 595 titles listed in the Journal Citation Reports
(JCRs) or due for listing in forthcoming editions, plus over 30 titles
listed in the
Arts & Humanities Citation Index.

The impressive growth of Taylor & Francis Group journals is reflected in
an
11% increase in total citations to titles listed in both 2006 and 2007
compared
to a 9% growth in citations across all titles in the JCRs.

Taylor & Francis now publishes the top ranked title in 15 categories,
including
Urban Studies, Mathematical Methods, Food Science & Technology,
Cybernetics, Ethnic Studies, Ethics, Instruments & Instrumentation and
History
& Philosophy of Sciences.

Having achieved top ranking in 5 categories and an increase in impact
factor
to 3.934, Glenn McGee, Editor of American Journal of Bioethics
commented, "We are now the number one ranked Health Services Research
Journal ... and the journal of record for bioethics, a super fast
growing and
highly utilized area for students and faculty in all sorts of fields".

David Sawicki, Editor of JAPA, the Journal of the American Planning
Association, was equally delighted that the journal has become the top
ranked
journal in the Urban Studies category, "I am very pleased that JAPA has
achieved this level of performance-all the more so because we have not
worked for a high test grade, but rather, have stuck with the
fundamentals.
We have 16 terrific associate editors and a talented editorial board.
Authors,
referees, editors (especially our managing editor) and publisher, are
the 'village' it takes to make a JAPA paper."

More than 150 Taylor & Francis and Informa Healthcare journals increased
their
Impact Factor by 25% or higher, including the following which increased
by
50% or more, Communication Monographs, Ethnic and Racial Studies,
Regional
Studies, Cognition and Instruction, Australian Journal of Psychology,
Survival,
Ozone: Science and Engineering, Critical Reviews in Analytical
Chemistry,
Critical Reviews in Environmental Science and Technology, Soft
Materials,
Ergonomics and Journal of Gender Studies.

Twenty-three Taylor & Francis journals gained an Impact Factor for the
first
time, including Journal of Experimental Nanoscience (covered from Volume
1),
Gender, Place & Culture, Computer Methods in Biomechanics & Bio
Engineering,
Econometric Reviews, Mineral Processing and Extractive Metallurgy
Review,
European Journal of Work & Organisational Psychology, Journal of
Energetic
Materials, Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, and Journal of
Applied Animal
Welfare Science. A further 35 journals have been accepted for coverage
in
Web of Science(r) and listing in forthcoming Journal Citation
Reports(r).

Dr David Green, Global Journals Publishing Director comments: "The
above-
average increase in number of journals covered, and the impressive
growth in
number of total citations , together demonstrate the value attached to
our
publications by the global research community."
