Closed stacks for current periodicals Barnard, Sarah 17 Jul 2008 21:01 UTC

Dear Paula,

I found your post interesting for several reasons. We are a small
college with a small number of students and faculty and a fairly large
number of current serials. In addition to academic journals we collect a
lot of publications of Jewish communities worldwide which we collect out
of a sense of duty to preserve them. We check everything in but put only
a selection of them in our reading room. We keep only the most recent
two issues of those in the reading room and then send them to a closed
area. We select from the ones that students and faculty browse the most
and some that are pretty, such as art and archaeological publications to
put in the reading room, along with a selection of newspapers. We are
undergoing renovations right now and we removed from the reading room
titles that are available up to date online.
