LAW COLLECTIONS AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN

The John E. Jaqua Law Library at the University of Oregon seeks a
creative, skilled, and service-oriented colleague for the position of
Law Collections and Electronic Resources Librarian. This position
manages all aspects of collection development and acquisitions, focusing
particularly on electronic resources, as we move into the evolving
learning environment. The Jaqua Law Library maintains over 350,000
volumes and volume equivalents in print, electronic, media, and micro
formats, and supports the teaching, research, and service activities of
the University of Oregon Law School, which has approximately 540
students. The Law Library provides primary and secondary legal materials
as well as specialized collections in environmental law, business law,
ADR, ocean law, Indian law, and family law. As a key component of the
University of Oregon Libraries, Law Library staff members are active
partners in improving access to scholarly resources. The Law Library
team is composed of 7.0 FTE library faculty, 6.0 FTE support staff
members, and numerous student workers.

Duties & Responsibilities:
In collaboration with the library faculty of the UO Libraries and the
Law Library, the Law Collections and Electronic Resources Librarian will
engage in strategic planning for the legal collection and implement a
unified vision of print and electronic materials; manage all aspects of
collection development and acquisitions; coordinate the selection
activities of library faculty subject specialists; evaluate and acquire
print and electronic resources; update the collection development policy
in accordance with current law library practices; manage the $1 million
law collections budget; determine policies and systems used in
acquisitions; oversee ordering, receipt, and payment for law library
materials; oversee vendor relation issues, contract negotiation and
licensing; facilitate input of electronic resources into the integrated
library system; extract, compile, and analyze usage data and other
statistics related to electronic resources; supervise the maintenance of
financial and usage data related to both digital and print materials;
supervise 1 FTE classified employee and .5 FTE student employees; and
collaborate with departmental staff to develop, document, and administer
policies, workflows, and procedures. Serves on library and campus
committees. The successful candidate will support and enhance a diverse
learning and working environment. Other related duties and projects as
assigned. Reports to the Director, Law Library.

Qualifications:
Required: ALA-accredited MLIS; minimum of one year of library collection
development experience; experience working with multiple facets of an
integrated library system; knowledge of trends and practices in
electronic resource management; familiarity with federated searching,
OpenURL resolvers, and electronic usage statistics; knowledge of trends
in publishing and in academic collection development; strong customer
service focus; demonstrated initiative, organizational skills, and
problem-solving abilities; strong communications and interpersonal
skills, evidenced by the ability to improve the work of a team and
maintain positive relationships with staff, faculty, and students;
ability to train and motivate staff; and a commitment to engage in
continuing professional development. Preferred: budgetary experience;
supervisory experience; library acquisitions experience; experience with
electronic resource management software, preferably Innovative
Interfaces’ ERM; project management experience; and/or knowledge of
legal materials and legal education.

Salary & Benefits:
$42,000 minimum. Salary beyond the minimum will be based on prior
professional experience, education, and/or rank. The UO offers a
