*Serials Standards Update Forum at ALA Annual Conference Sunday June 29,
2008, 10:30-Noon.
*
The Serials Standards Update Forum, held at American Library Association
conferences, presents the latest news on developments affecting
continuing resources management. The session is presented by the ALCTS
Continuing Resources Section, CRS Standards Committee and sponsored by
Swets.

At the 2008 Annual Conference, the forum will feature identifiers.
Distinguished speakers will highlight the importance of identifiers in
managing and accessing continuing resources and two specific identifiers:
*Linking ISSN* which groups versions of a resource, aiding in discovery
and use. http://www.issn.org/files/active/0/PRESS%20RELEASE_ISSN-L.pdf
*Institutional identifiers*, designed to streamline resource acquisition
and facilitate access to electronic resources. Institutional identifiers
are being studied by the NISO I2 working group, building on initiatives
such as Ringgold's Identify and OCLC's WorldCat Registry.
