Re: Architect Corrice, Julia A. 18 Jun 2008 14:09 UTC

Because the special issues are in the scope of what we must collect for
our institution, and because I hate having missing issues, I called the
publisher to speak to a circulation manager about how to receive them.

They can be purchased individually for $10 each after publication by
people who aren't "qualified" to automatically receive them, but no
current subscription exists. There is no way to add an institution to
the "qualified demographic", but they are hoping to set up a
subscription next year when they know whether or not it will become it's
own title or remain a part of Architect.

When I first spoke to the customer service rep, they told me I wasn't
allowed to purchase them at all, which is when I requested to speak to
the circulation manager. He said he would email the the customer service
department again so that they know people can purchase the issues, and
that the customer service department is confused about the policy.

I wonder why!

Here is the publisher's response to a query I made regarding missed
issues of Architect:

Good Evening,

Thank you for your interest in our publication, Architect.

Unfortunately, Vol 97 issues 3 & 6 is not included in the subscription.

Architect is published 16 times per year for 2008. There are 4 special
issues that are published mid-monthly which are not included in the
subscription. The mid-month issues are sent only to our "qualified
subscribers - those who meet certain demographics requirements.

For postal purposes, we have to include all issues in our statement of
frequency, and number issues accordingly. We realize this will create
some confusion for subscribers who track by issue number.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our
Customer Service Department at 847/291-5221.

Thank you,

Customer Service
