ACQUISITIONS LIBRARIAN & CLINICAL ASSISTANT PROFESSOR

The University Library of the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks
a dynamic and knowledgeable librarian to improve its traditional
acquisitions processes for print materials, contribute to ongoing
development of effective models for acquiring electronic resources,
and participate in the transition to a new technical services
structure that re-emphasizes fast, accurate, and efficient
processing. Working in close cooperation with Collections
Development, Cataloging, Systems, and other departments, the
Acquisitions Librarian will oversee the expenditure of a materials
budget of more than $8 million for an ARL library with a significant
health sciences component. The Acquisitions Librarian reports to the
Coordinator of Technical Services and is responsible for planning,
organizing, operating, and administering acquisitions functions that
include ordering, payment, serials, binding, and shelf preparation.
Reorganization is likely to result in pre-order searching and copy
cataloging operations coming under the purview of the Acquisitions
Librarian.
