The Evans Library of Florida Institute of Technology (www.fit.edu) has
an immediate opening for a Distance Learning Librarian and invites
applications from enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and
service-oriented professionals. The Distance Learning Librarian will
work with Evans Library colleagues to deliver user-centered services to
the online academic community. The Library's mission is to offer the
highest possible quality of services and resources for all Florida Tech
faculty, students, and academic support personnel regardless of
geographic location.

Florida Institute of Technology, an accredited, nationally recognized
university, continues to expand its online learning programs, and will
offer undergraduate and graduate degrees in many fields, as well as
associate degrees. The university will offer MBAs (with concentrations
in Management; Marketing; Accounting and Finance; and Health Care
Management), and an MS in Information Technology. Bachelor's degrees
will be available in Accounting, Criminal Justice, Business
Administration, Computer Information Systems, and an HR Administration
minor. Associate degrees will be offered in liberal arts and business
administration.

Responsibilities: The Distance Learning Librarian proactively and
responsively plans, implements, coordinates, delivers, assesses, and
promotes a full range of distance learning library services; builds
partnerships with and serves as liaison to Florida Tech's online and
distance learning community; provides remote and campus-based research,
reference and information delivery services; develops and provides
online tutorials, research guides, and instructional services; and
collaborates with colleagues to develop library resources and services
for online programs. Some evening and weekend hours are required.

Qualifications:  Required:  ALA-accredited MLS. Strong commitment to
outreach service; exceptional communication, presentation and
organizational skills; positive service attitude; excellent
interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse and
non-traditional clientele; ability to work independently and as a team
member, and to assess and shift priorities in a demanding and rapidly
changing environment.  Preferred:  Academic library background;
experience delivering library services to distance learners.  Faculty
status with 12-month annual salary; excellent benefits and environment.
