EBSCO's Serials Directory or Ulrich's International Periodical Directory
are both capable of answering Karen's need to identify periodicals in
particular topic areas. The advantage Ulrich's has is that being
published by Bowker, the database includes reviews published in
Magazines for Libraries. I find Ulrich's search capabilities to be a tad
better, too.
All users of either product should be aware that much of the information
is supplied by the publishers. For example, a publisher may choose not
to supply circulation information. As with Who's Who or any resource
where the person or entity the entry is about provides the information,
caveat lector (reader beware).
