Vendor Marc record for e-journals Lisa Stienbarger 28 Nov 2007 18:23 UTC

Hello,

If your Library uses vendor MARC records for all electronic journals
(aggregator and true e-journal titles), we would like to hear from you.

At the University of Notre Dame, we bring SFX MARCit records into Aleph
for aggregator titles only. We continue to catalog manually true
electronic journals using available OCLC copy. We are currently
exploring new ways for utilizing SFX to manage bibliographic and
holdings access for all e-journals.

We are particularly interested in your opinion about the cataloging
quality of SFX true e-journals records. We also would like to know how
you manage order records for true electronic titles. Our Acquisitions
staff need to have a bibliographic record for ordering prior to access
and SFX activation. If you use order records, we are wondering how you
handle MARCit overlay of previously created bibliographic records with
attached orders.

Please send you replies directly to me. I would be happy to provide a
summary to the list, if there is an interest in this issue.

Thank you very much!
