October 2007

Taylor & Francis is delighted to announce that its "iOpenAccess" option
has been extended to cover 31 journals in environmental and agricultural
sciences, behavioural sciences and development studies. This is in
addition to the 175 journals from T&F's Chemistry, Mathematics and
Physics portfolios, 7 behavioural science journals from Psychology
Press, and medical and bioscience journals from Informa Healthcare.

From today, all authors whose manuscripts are accepted for publication
in one of these iOpenAccess journals will have the option to make their
articles available to all via the Journal's website, and to post to
repositories, for a one-off fee.

Commenting on the expansion of the initiative, Journals Publishing
Director, Dr David Green, stated: "Taylor & Francis continues to have a
strong tradition of meeting the needs of the academic and scientific
research communities. Due to demand within certain author communities we
are extending iOpenAccess availability. Author take-up thus far has been
mainly in the biomedical and psychology fields, but authors whose
research is supported by certain funders do require this option to be
available."

We undertake to review the subscription prices of each journal with
respect to the uptake of the iOpenAccess initiative, and the relevant
information will be published at www.informaworld.com. The assessment of
the first group of iOpenAccces titles will take place in early 2008.

Our continuing commitment to stringent, independent, expert peer review
remains: only accepted articles are eligible for the scheme, and authors
will only be offered the open access option when they are sent their
proofs for review. This complete separation of payment from the peer
review and acceptance process will ensure that editorial independence
and quality are not compromised.
