*Education: *Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited
institution. Second master's degree preferred.
*Experience: *Five (5) years of experience in library acquisitions, with
progressively responsible work assignments and supervisory responsibilities.
*Duties: *The Acquisitions Librarian performs complex professional and
administrative work in the operation of acquisitions for the Library.
Responsibilities involve the supervision and management of all aspects of
library acquisitions. Work requires advanced knowledge of acquisitions and
serials procedures in the Voyager(c) and OCLC(c) systems, and includes
ordering,
receiving, and invoicing, for monographs, serials, and subscription
products. Knowledge of current library practices for acquiring and
accessing library resources is essential, along with high level skills in
accounting and financial management. Work is performed under minimal
supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent
judgment. Additional responsibilities include maintaining department
statistics, training of others, and providing leadership within the
Acquisitions section.
