Re: Cataloging Integrating Resources with Multiple Vendors

The group working on the PCC Provider Neutral record for electronic
integrating resources has just finished up its recommendations for
guidelines and these will be available publicly this week or next. We'll
make sure this list and other cataloging lists have access to the report
provide for any final comments. In the past when we've asked PCC and
non-PCC catalogers for their opinion on this we've received support for
the idea. So the group recommends a provider neutral approach to
e-integrating resources and we've confirmed that the ISSN Network is
taking such an approach to e-integrating resoruces for ISSN assignments.
The next step is to begin work on PCC guidelines for cataloging
integrating resources, the Provider Neutral group laid the ground work for
some of this with its recommendations for electronic integrating
resources. I hope to get this group up and running within the next week or
so. The main task is to incorporate revisions into Integrating
Resources: A Cataloging Manual
http://www.loc.gov/catdir/pcc/bibco/irman.pdf
I've already gone through and culled out examples and instructions for the
"interim" monograph approach and removed RLG examples. Things to be
included are the guidelines for the provider neutral approach for e-IRs,
probable options related to the CONSER standard record guidelines,
additional or different examples and other things.
