COORDINATOR OF PUBLIC SERVICES, Torreyson Library
POSITION SUMMARY: The University of Central Arkansas seeks a Coordinator of Public Services for Torreyson Library. UCA is a dynamic educational community with an FTE that has grown from 7,930 to 10,851 in less than five years. Total enrollment exceeds 12,000. Undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs are offered.
The successful candidate will provide vision, leadership, and cohesiveness for Reference Services, Circulation/Reserve, Interlibrary Loan, Instructional Services, Outreach Services, Children's Collection, and Systems. He/she will have a strong work ethic, a collegial attitude, and an understanding of and dedication to the evolving role of an academic library in the 21st century.
The successful candidate will be expected to actively build and maintain constructive relationships with campus constituencies including students, faculty, and staff; to articulate programs and mission to students, faculty, staff, and community; to be technologically savvy, open minded, and eager to try new approaches and initiatives; to participate in reference desk coverage, instructional services classes, committee work, etc. Additional projects and duties will be assigned. This position is responsible for supervision of staff, including tenure track faculty, paraprofessionals, and students. Opportunities to serve as adjunct faculty in various disciplines are available. Some weekend work will be required, and some evening work may be required. Position reports to Library Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS; minimum three years of increasingly responsible experience in an academic library; supervisory experience, strong social skills; collegial attitude.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Additional graduate level degree and/or coursework. Proven track record of formulating, delivering, and assessing new services and programs.
RANK: Depending on the candidate's credentials and interests, this appointment may be made at the Library Assistant Professor rank on tenure track or at the non-tenure track Library Instructor rank.
