The University of Maryland Libraries is looking for an innovative and
dynamic individual to lead its Acquisitions Continuing Resources Team. The

Responsibilities include: Planning, implementation, and administration of
all aspects of ordering, receiving, claiming, reconciling financial
statements and preparation for payment of continuing publications, print or
electronic; administration of the Continuing Resources Team (6.5 FTE);
collaboration with colleagues from acquisitions, cataloging, collection
management, and information technology to resolve questions related to
acquisition, funding, access, or cataloging of electronic resources and to
facilitate acquisitions process for all formats of library materials.
Qualifications and Experience: Required: B.A. or B.S., minimum of 3 years
serials/acquisitions experience, preferably in an academic library setting.
Minimum of one year supervisory experience. Experience with automated
acquisitions systems and integrated library systems. Knowledge of technical
services, of acquisitions and serial practices and procedures, of basic
bibliographic principles for serials; understanding of serial/electronic
resources issues and trends in publishing, book and subscription trade.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Evidence of ability to
effectively collaborate with teams and independently solve problems. Strong
service orientation. Excellent time management skills.
Desired: Five years or more of relevant, progressively responsible
experience in managing serials/electronic resources, at least two of which
were within an academic library setting. Two or more years of supervisory
experience. Experience in managing or troubleshooting electronic resources.
Experience with Ex-Libris Aleph system. Experience with developing,
implementing, or using electronic resource modules/services. Demonstrated
ability to lead staff in a team-based organization.
