A general overview of social software and its applications in Libraries
will be discussed. Two instances of social software in action, the
Georgia Tech Wiki experience and use of collaborative data exchange
tools such as Google Spreadsheets and the University of Pennsylvania's
Penntags program will be discussed as example of real world applications
of this new approach to collaborative work in Technical Services.

Track: Digital Information & Technologies
Social software such as wikis, blogs, RSSfeeds, instant messaging and
social bookmarking are proving themselves on the public services side of
libraries. This program will explore their application in technical
services.
