[Fwd: STS Program and Poster Session] Laura Kane McElfresh 18 Jun 2007 19:56 UTC

FYI - this program by the Science and Technology Section of ACRL
(ACRL-STS) might be interesting for serials librarians. Please feel
free to pass it along to others who catalog or do other metadata work too.

Hello Laura,
I'm not sure you'll remember me, but we met at an STS function at one of
the ALA meetings during this past year. We discussed the fact that STS
and other sections of ACRL often do not talk to one another. STS is
putting on a program that might be of some interest to folks who work
with serials and metadata. If you're willing, I would greatly
appreciate your sharing our e-mail advertisement (below) with any
listserv that you think might be interested in attending the STS program
and poster session.

I hope all is well at Emory and I hope to see you at the STS program in
Washington, DC!

Sincerely,
Catherine Soehner

/Libraries have long been invaluable for preserving and organizing
literature produced from scientific research. Librarians and researchers
alike are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of also
preserving the scientific community's prodigious output of data, which
are often difficult, if not impossible, to find in published literature.
This engaging and informative program will address the issues and trends
of storing and providing access to the vast amount of non-textual
information produced by scientific research./
