This workshop series has been partially funded with Federal Library
Services and Technology Act (LSTA) funds administered by the Office of
Commonwealth Libraries

Morning Session - Is the future of the OPAC bright or bleak?

Lynn Connaway, Consulting Research Scientist with OCLC will discuss the
future of library catalogs, current developments and what services
patrons are expecting from OPACs.  Gregg Silvis, Librarian and Assistant
Director for Library Computing Systems from the University of Delaware
will explore some of the major factors that are leading to the
obsolescence of the local OPAC.

Afternoon Session - Two specific adaptations

Laurie Allen, Research and Instructional Services Librarian from Van
Pelt Library, University of Pennsylvania will present "PennTags:
Creating and Using a Social Bookmarking Tool in an Academic Library".
Susan Beidler, Associate Professor and Head of Collection Management and
Systems at Lycoming College will walk us through Snowden Library's
installation of the AquaBrowser Library from Medialab Solutions and TLC,
with discussion of decisions and choices made at Lycoming College...
