Reporting function in Serials and Acquisitions
Hinojosa, Rogelio H. 23 Feb 2007 17:49 UTC
Greetings, colleagues:
I am doing a review of the reporting function in Serials and
Acquisitions in our library. It would be very useful for me to compare
the type of reports we produce with those in your Serials and/or
Acquisitions departments. For this analysis I am defining a report as
any structured way of informing on the status of the Serials and/or
Acquisitions operations. I would greatly appreciate if you could answer
the following four questions with as much detail as possible:
1. What types of reports do you and your staff produces in a typical
academic year? Please list as many reports as you can, both regular and
special. If possible, please indicate the frequency of these reports and
whether they are internal only or shared with other people outside the
library.
2. Approximately how much time do you and your staff spend preparing
reports in a typical month?
3. Are any of these reports fully automated (i.e. customized reports
produced via a computer program)? Please provide details. Do not
consider in your answer to this question reports manually compiled or
edited using software such as Excel, Word, etc.
4. How do you think your reports contribute to the mission of the
library?
Please send your replies directly to my email (rhinojosa@tamiu.edu). If
you can attach samples of some of the reports your department produce,
it would be very helpful! Those that are unique to your institution are
of great interest. Your perspective on reporting functions will be much
appreciated.
I will be glad to compile and share the results with all colleagues who
reply. Thank you very much for participating in this review
