Assistant/Associate University Librarian for Technical Services and Technology
Salary Range:
$60,000 -- $110,100 Assistant University Librarian
$63,300 -- $121,100 Associate University Librarian
(Salary and appointment based on experience and qualifications)

Responsibilities: As part of the Library’s senior management team, this administrative position reports directly to the University Librarian and has primary responsibility within the UCD General Library for leadership, planning and coordination of technical services and systems operations. This position directly supervises the Heads of the Systems, Monographs and Serials departments and is responsible for management, planning and resource allocation within these units. In addition, it is expected that the incumbent represent the Library at UC systemwide meetings and national forums.
Qualifications: A strong record of leadership and accomplishment in directing and managing technical services and technology in a large research or academic library for at least five years is essential. Substantial knowledge of library systems required. Excellent analytical, decision-making, planning, oral and written communications, and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work effectively within a team environment and in a complex, dynamic, and multicultural environment is critical. A graduate degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution or its equivalent required.
The Environment: The UC Davis General Library (www.lib.ucdavis.edu <http://www.lib.ucdavis.edu/> ) ranks among the top research libraries in North America, with current holdings of over 3.2 million volumes, including over 41,000 currently received serials. The General Library is an active partner with the California Digital Library (www.cdlib.org <http://www.cdlib.org/> ), and is currently engaged in several digital library collections initiatives.

Benefits: Assistant/Associate University Librarians are academic appointees. They earn 24 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per annum. The University has an excellent retirement system that is coordinated with Social Security. Several health, dental, and vision plans are currently provided by the University. Group term life insurance and reduced enrollment fees are available.
