Re: Unknown ISSN Mitchell, Vanessa (ASRC) 28 Nov 2006 14:13 UTC

It sounds like the publisher has yet to apply for an ISSN (not all publishers request ISSN) or is in the process of doing so. When the National Serials Data Program assigns an ISSN the cataloger inputs the number into the OCLC record. If you need an ISSN for this title, you could try contacting NSDP directly at issn@loc.gov.

Hope this helps.

Hi Dave,
I just checked Ulrich's for that title and under ISSN, it says "none
supplied." But maybe that publisher will get back to you with news that
they have supplied one, or will.

Good luck.

Subject: [SERIALST] Unknown ISSN

Hello:

I recently cataloged Sacred History Magazine (OCLC number 76149973), but
I have been unable to find an ISSN for it. I can't find one on the
item, and I talked to someone at the magazine who said he would find out
and get back to me, but that hasn't happened. The magazine is
relatively new (as of about a year ago), so my local serials resources
are too out of date to list it. Perhaps my assumption that it even has
an ISSN is misguided, but I would be grateful for any ideas. Thanks!

Journey well,
