Re: two journals have same ISSN number?

There should be two records for Trends in Ecology & Evolution. The issn
0968-0012 goes to the annual Reference Edition that used to be published
from 1986-1999. The OCLC record number is 15871932 for that one.
The other issn, 0169-5347, goes to the serial edition that is published.
The OCLC record number is 14100627 for that one.
We have both records in our catalog here at Creighton.

There are two ISSN numbers appeared on the journal of Trends in ecology
&
evolution. It is 0169-5374 on earlier issues; 0968-0012 on the later
issues.
My guess is that when cataloger updated the record (the title ceased in
1999), she put 0169-5374 in subfield y, but mistakenly added 0968-0055
not
0968-0012 in subfield a.

According to the ISSN database, 0968-0055 has been assigned to:
Trends in microbiology (Reference ed.)
The ISSN for
Trends in ecology & evolution (Reference ed.)
is 0968-0012
My guess is that the publisher has printed the incorrect ISSN on the
pieces,
but don't really know that without pieces in hand.
