Yes, we check in some of our newspapers (New York Times, Wall Street
Journal, Kansas City Star, etc.), but a few of the area papers that we
don't actually subscribe to, we just place on the shelf. I am thinking of
having the cataloger catalog them and then creating a copy record that
just indicates we have the most recent two weeks. That way people
searching the catalog would at least know we have them.

Linda,

I have been watching the responses to this question.

We do check the papers in and we also use Millennium. I am now rethinking
why we actually do check them in, since I read the email from Annette.

That is a good question and I might decide to stop in light of this.

:-) Shelley

We currently check-in all newspapers, using our ILS. Staff check-in
serials on a daily basis - newspapers do not increase this work by any
sizable amount (that we have noticed). We have found checking-in our
newspapers helps greatly with claims issues.

We do, however, have decentralized delivery of our serials [to our
branches], and many different staff are checking-in the newspapers.
Maintaining electronic records makes it easier for us in Serials and
Acquisitions to keep an eye on the subscriptions.
