As long as we continue to have the MARC record and this type of
bibliographic control, we need to maintain an appropriate authority
structure for what we create.  That said, I have no problem with
re-examining how we organize and manage information.  If the MARC record
has outlived its usefulness, then let's do something else.  Meanwhile,
let's not dismantle it piece-meal or we will end up with neither an
authority-controlled MARC record nor a suitable replacement.
