Has anyone else noticed that the annual number of items circulated per
enrolled student in ARL libraries is down by 25% since 1991?  Even more
alarming is the drop in the average number of reference transactions:
from 7.2 per student in 1991 to 4 per student in 2004, for
a decline of almost 50%.

This has probably been commented upon somewhere, and I just missed it.
