NASIG is very pleased to announce the recipients of its
2006 grants and awards. All five of the grants and awards
provide funding for travel, registration, and on-site
costs for attending the NASIG Annual conference, which
will take place this year in Denver, Colorado, on May 4-7.

Conference Student Grants
     GREGORY SCHMIDT (University of Alabama)
     SARAH MORRIS (University of Illinois at
          Urbana-Champaign)
     LISA HARRINGTON (Simmons College)
     LAURA BAKER (Simmons College)

Mexico Student Grant
     MARTHA ALEJANDRA ALATORRE BETANCOURT (Universidad
          Autonoma de San Luis Potosi Escuela De
          Bibliotecologia e Información)

     The Mexico Student Grant is similar to the NASIG
Conference Student Grant, but is specifically directed
at library and information science students in Mexico.

Fritz Schwartz Serials Education Scholarship
     CLAIRE RASMUSSEN (University of Wisconsin at Madison)

     In addition to funding for conference attendance,
this award provides a $3000 scholarship for expenses
related to being enrolled in a library and information
science program.

Serials Specialist Award
     WENDY LICHTE (Arizona State University)

     2006 is the first year this new award has been
given. It is intended for serialists in positions of a
paraprofessional nature with primary responsibilities
for any aspect of serials work.

Horizon Award
     JENNIFER ARNOLD (Central Piedmont Community College)

     This award is for serialists with three or fewer
years of professional experience, in any branch of the
serials information chain, with primary responsibilities
for any aspect of serials work.
