Chris and all--
NSDP (the National Serials Data Program which is the U.S. ISSN center at
the Library of Congress) is responsible for notifying U.S. publishers that
they are printing incorrect ISSN. Those noticing incorrect ISSN on
U.S. serials can notify NSDP of such problems by sending email to our
NSDP account: issn@loc.gov
Please include in the email a citation to the most recent issue on which
the ISSN is misprinted so that if the publisher has already corrected the
ISSN on a later issue, he is not confused by our request for a correction.
For the title above, NSDP did notify the publisher, via the U.S. Postal
Service, about the incorrect ISSN. NSDP cooperates with the Postal
Service in assigning ISSN to many serials mailed at periodicals
rate. Sometimes working with a third party (USPS), though overall very
beneficial, results in miscommunications with the publisher. In this case,
NSDP will notify the publisher directly and hope that the ISSN error will
be corrected as soon as possible.
Thank you for noticing this and please feel free to direct future cases of
incorrect ISSN being printed by the publisher directly to NSDP.
