Head of Technical Services and Collection Development: SUNY Maritime College Library

State University of New York Maritime College provides an outstanding education in the areas of Science, Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Transportation/Business Administration, Marine Environmental Science, and the Humanities. Head of Technical Services and Collection Development:  Duties:  The Head of Technical Services and Collection Development works collaboratively with liaison librarians coordinating collection development and management of resources in all formats. Oversees the Technical Services Department, including acquisitions and cataloging.  Responsible for ordering, receiving and invoice processing. Performs reference duties and participates in the library's information literacy program. As a member of the faculty serves on various campus-wide committees of the college governance.

Qualifications:  Required:  ALA-accredited MLS degree. Experience in technical services operations, including acquisitions and cataloging, at a research or academic library; experience in collection development; demonstrated knowledge in library acquisitions business practices, vendor relations, and fund accounting;  experience with integrated library system; supervisory experience; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to successfully lead, train and interact with employees; ability to develop positive professional relationships with commercial vendors and the college community; resourcefulness, creativity, problem solving skills; ability to work in a team-based environment.

Preferred:  Advanced degree in another academic discipline; 3 years of technical services/bibliographic services experience; familiarity with the Ex-Libris Aleph 500 integrated library system; experience developing dynamic websites.

Position: Tenure track Senior Assistant or Associate Librarian position.  Position includes an excellent benefit package.  Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
