recording logins in MFHD--clarification STEVE BLACK@FACULTY@ACADEMICAFFAIRS 01 Feb 2006 18:47 UTC

Sorry to be unclear before. I meant recording the administrative login
and password the librarian uses to make any necessary updates, e.g. IP
address range changes. The publishers typically assign logins in a
letter or e-mail, and they need to be recorded somewhere. I wondered if
anyone recorded them in their MFHD records.

Steve,
We only go with password-options for e-resources when we absolutely have
to, and have been able to keep the overall number of them very low. We
are currently investigating commercial ERM products.

For now, we record the username on the mhfd in 856|l and the password in
the 856|k.

thanks, Erika

Do any of you record the logins and passwords for individual online
journals in their MFHD records?

If yes, which field did you choose?

If no, what electronic resource management product or alternative do you
recommend for keeping track of all the logins and passwords?

Thank you,
