Electronic Resources Coordinator, Acquisitions Services

The Georgia Tech Library and Information Center invites applications
for an energetic, flexible, and innovative professional to serve as
its Electronic Resources Coordinator. The Georgia Institute of
Technology, with nearly 20,000 faculty, students, and staff, is one of
the nation's outstanding universities and a leading center for
research and technological development, with nationally recognized
programs in science and engineering. The Library and Information
Center (www.library.gatech.edu), a member of the Association of
Research Libraries, is central to the Institute's curricular and
research programs. The Library, with the full support of Georgia
Tech's faculty, is moving aggressively to deliver electronically the
wealth of information resources it makes available to students,
faculty, and staff.

 Reporting to the Head, Acquisitions Services Department, the
Electronic Resources Coordinator position offers an opportunity for an
assertive, dynamic, service-oriented, and experienced librarian to
provide leadership in shaping acquisitions in an increasingly digital
world. The Coordinator: executes license agreements for electronic
resources and leads vendor/publisher contact in licensing
negotiations; assists the Department Head in identifying and employing
new approaches and emerging technologies in acquisitions work (such as
SFX and a new e-resource management software application); develops
new policies, procedures, and operations to improve the management of
electronic resources; and supervises successfully with a commitment to
staff training. The Coordinator also collaborates closely with the
Collection Development Department to facilitate the identification,
selection, and fiscal control of information resources.

More specifically, the Electronic Resources Coordinator manages and
coordinates the licensing, ordering and renewal of electronic
resources; maintains license agreements and related files to ensure
ready and current access; serves as departmental liaison (with
Information Control and Management, Collection Development, Systems,
Information Services, etc.) to facilitate consistent, timely  public
access and record maintenance; updates and maintains linking
capabilities among electronic resources, such as in a link resolver
software like SFX; maintains data for tracking and disseminating
information regarding electronic resources; stays informed of emerging
issues in the acquisition of electronic resources; fosters and
supports a collaborative, inter-departmental approach to problem
solving and decision making. The Coordinator will supervise one
Library Associate I and one Library Assistant III.

Qualifications:
Required qualification include: an ALA-accredited MLS or other
relevant degree.  Experience in the technical procedures of acquiring
and processing serials, databases, and e-resources; experience in
supervising, training, and organizing the work of other staff,
preferably regarding the licensing, acquisitions, and administrative
management of information resources; demonstrated experience working
with vendors of information resources; working experience with an
integrated library system, preferably Endeavor Voyager; excellent
written and oral communication skills; and strong analytical,
team-building, and problem-solving skills.
Desired qualifications include: Three years experience in an academic
setting; demonstrated experience in the acquisition of electronic
resources; experience in the negotiation of electronic resource
licenses; experience with consortia, preferably academic; knowledge of
or experience with newer library technologies such as link resolving
software (Ex Libris SFX).

Salary & Benefits: Appointments will be made at the Librarian I
(entry-level) or Library II level.  Appointment level and salary are
based on qualifications and experience.  Minimum salary for Librarian
I is $42,000.   Librarians are members of the General Faculty and are
non-tenured.  Georgia Tech offers a comprehensive benefits package
